Summer Ag Institute 2022

Join us June 6-7-8 as we explore fun and engaging ways to “beef” up your classroom instruction. Each year Champaign County Ag in the Classroom offers a 3-day teacher workshop that offers agriculture-based lessons and field trips that cover Illinois Learning Standards in ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science. First, lessons connect our foods, fuels, and fibers to students through inquiry-based learning. It’s about learning something new, and triggering curiosity about the everyday things around them. Illinois Ag in the Classroom will present a fresh set of lessons entitled STEM and Inquiry to engage teachers and students in the science of agriculture. Second, presenters from commodities groups and others in the ag and conservation fields will present ways to incorporate new materials that will add depth and a local connections to your lessons. Lastly, participants will participate in field trips to local agri-businesses and farms to see first-hand how important the ag industry is to our daily lives. It is our hope that with all of these experiences, teachers will start a new school year with ideas that will help “beef” up their curriculum.

This year, Champaign County is partnering with Vermillion County to provide twice as much fun. Monday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 8 will be at the Champaign County Farm Bureau. Tuesday’s instruction and trips will take place in Vermillion County with the Vermillion County Farm Bureau as home base.

Participants will receive 22.5 CPDUs from the ROE upon completion of the 3 day workshop.
